By acquiring 01 Communications, TelePacific Communications–a CLEC that’s focused its attention on the California and Nevada SMB markets–instantly put more SMB customers into its hands.

Although the financial terms of the deal were not announced, TelePacific’s acquisition of O1 gave the privately-held service provider an additional 1,000 business customers and enhanced IP assets in California, but also O1’s data center. With the 01 acquisition complete, TelePacific Communications will have a total of 1.18 million access lines service 38,000 business and wholesale customers in California and Nevada.

But the 01 deal is not just about scaling customers or lines. TelePacific, which is one of the main competitors to both AT&T and Verizon in California and Nevada, will now have a new 18,500-square foot data center that will enable it to offer current and new SMB customers a host of other managed services.

“The additional resources we gained through this acquisition, including the data center and O1’s state-of-the-art IP network, have enhanced our ability to serve our customers,” said Dick Jalkut, President and CEO of TelePacific in a statement.

A nice side note, TelePacific invited all of O1’s existing employees to join the new company. Now that is a rarity in this environment.
